Small pearl drops descend from the pendant's base, completing the cascade. The red is the colour Jaipur's meenakars have been firing into gold for four centuries. Meenakari is Jaipur's most distinct contribution to Indian jewellery craft — enamel fixed into gold, colours that do not fade. Red in the meenakari tradition means festivity, auspiciousness, arrival.
